About this Event
Word Candy is not a reference to empty calories but a way of approaching writing in small bites to make it your own. In a single two-hour class, you will be introduced to both poetry and prose in a down-to-earth way that will leave you feeling more comfortable and confident playing with words in creative ways. First, you’ll learn how to make poems from poems, using basic building blocks to unleash work that will surprise you. Next, you will explore voice and point of view, the “who” at the center of your story, starting with some of the most common – and most personal – ways we use words to define ourselves: lists, letters, and deep reflection.
