At 0100hrs on Thursday 8 June 2023, in Ascot Place, Ascot, Constable Anthony Woods PD17631, was seriously injured whilst conducting an arrest. Sadly, on 11 June 2023, Anthony succumbed to these injuries and passed away, he was the 88th WA Police Officer to have died in the line of duty.
At the request of Anthony’s family, a charity walk is being arranged called ‘Woodsy’s Walk to Remember'.
This fundraising event will be held on Saturday 16 November 2024, starting at 8:00am, ends at 12:00pm.
The route is the dirt track around Lake Leschenaultia, Chidlow and is approx. 5km.
This is a family friendly event, patrons can choose to walk or even run a few laps of the lake with all monies raised from the purchase of tickets and merchandise going to WA Police Legacy.

Changing facilities are limited, there are toilets, a local cafe and public parking available within the National Park area of Lake Leschenaultia.
