Sherwood Forest is a haven not just for outlaws, but for woodpeckers too!Join a volunteer expert on a guided walk designed to reveal more about these iconic birds in Robin Hood’s forest.
With the UK’s three native woodpecker species – great spotted, lesser spotted and green – all resident in the forest Sherwood resounds to their unmistakable drumming throughout the winter and spring months.
And there’s every chance you’ll catch a glimpse of their colourful plumage as they move through the woodland canopy. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open as you don’t want to miss them.
As this is a walk to see birds in the wild we cannot guarantee that you will see them. However, it will still be an educational experience on our wonderful woodpeckers.
The walk will last approximately 90 minutes, so please bring suitable clothing and footwear.
Unfortunately, we can’t allow dogs on this walk.
