
About this Event
Beginner-friendly craft workshops inspired by the nature of Smithills Estate. The workshop will include a short (1km) outdoor walk in our woodland followed by an indoor craft session led by Aysha Yilmaz.
The morning session will include a collage craft inspired by International Women's Day, and the afternoon session will include a felt craft inspired by the signs of spring.

To ensure group safety and conservation of the area, numbers are limited.
What to know before the walk:
- This walk is approx. 1 km and includes some steps that are optional. The walk length will be dependent on weather conditions, however, under dry conditions it will be around 30 minutes.
- We ask all attendees to bring water and come prepared for cold and potentially wet weather. This walk will be cancelled if there is severe weather, please check your emails on the day before the walk.
- The watercolour session will be beginner-friendly. All ages welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Due to the nature of the workshop, we would ask that people do not bring dogs, except assistance dogs.
- Barrow Bridge has poor phone signal, please plan your route ahead of time.
- All materials for the session will be provided.

About Aysha Yilmaz
Aysha classes herself as a Multidisciplinary Artist/ Creative Practitioner as her practice consists of Painting, Textiles and Mixed Media. She teaches Arts and Crafts to different groups (Age Friendly, Women's Groups, Children, and Families). The workshops she teaches are mainly textile-based such as Silk painting, Felting and Mixed Media. Her work is mainly nature-inspired. She has taught in many Primary schools as an Artist in Schools. She currently teaches regularly at the Whitworth Art Gallery on their Handmade programme and is a regular artist for UnityArts Manchester. She is on the Whitworth Art Gallery’s Advisory Group.
