About this Event
Join us for a warm and joyful Women’s Yalda Night, celebrating the longest night of the year through Kurdish traditions, poetry, music, and sisterhood.
This special evening is dedicated to honoring Kurdish women, our culture, and the light we bring to our communities.
The night will be accompanied by the music of Suna Alan, a Kurdish Alevi singer based in London, whose artistry is rooted in traditional Kurdish dengbêj (bard) music. While Kurdish folk songs are at the heart of her work, her repertoire also encompasses Armenian, Greek, Arabic, Sephardic, and Turkish music. Through her involvement with SOAS University’s Kurdish Band and Rebetiko Band, she has performed in numerous concerts and festivals across the UK and beyond.
