About this Event
Violence against women is a terrible problem that affects people from all countries and all walks of life. More and more women are reporting being assaulted, harassed, or generally feeling unsafe in their environments.
Fortunately, there IS something you can do about it.
Verbal and physical self-defense is effective
Join us at the Northgate School of Oom Yung Doe, for this women led seminar. Physically you will learn some simple, but effective techniques that work well with a woman’s natural strengths as part of the SHOCK, SCREAM, and RUN self-defense strategy. These techniques can be used against a variety of different attacks from the front. You will also have the opportunity to discus the mental aspects of self-defense such as body posture, utilizing your voice, and typically being smaller than an attacker.
Wear something comfortable to move around in and bring a friend!

In general, the more the merrier. We do recommend that participants be at least 10 years old due to the content covered in the seminar. For younger participants (ages 10 to 15), parents should be prepared to have difficult conversations about violence against women with their daughters.
