Women's Leadership Salon

Thursday, June 25, 2026

Salon from 3-5pm

Optional happy hour with complimentary wine or beer courtesy of The Frontier RTP and self-pay community dinner at the Boxyard RTP from 5-7pm

Location: The Frontier RTP, 800 Park Offices Dr., Durham, NC

In honor of Pride month, and in praise of our glorious diversity more generally, we are coming together to celebrate and elevate women’s leadership by exploring how all of our intersecting identities shape the way we lead. This month’s theme is: How do our intersectional identities inform our leadership practice?

Theme and Focus

We will explore our identities expansively and intersectionally—including and beyond gender—to include race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, age/generation, neurodiversity, faith/spirituality, languages, socioeconomic status, education level, immigration status, and more. Together, we will explore questions such as:

  • When and how do we cover, code-switch, or downplay parts of who we are to fit in to the group or achieve a desired outcome?
  • What do we gain and what do we lose - individually and collectively - when we do this?
  • How do our full, authentic identities inform what we see as leadership traits, potential, and talent?

Your Challenge to Share: Come prepared to share a leadership experience where you covered, code-switched, or downplayed your identity/ies to achieve a desired outcome. We will reflect on what that choice cost, what it offered, and what it might look like to honor our values and our full personhood in similar situations going forward.

What We'll Do Together

We’ll build community, share our stories, generate insights in peer advisory groups, and support one another in claiming and living our authentic leadership. We’re capping attendance and using small peer groups to facilitate deeper connection and more focused support.

Salon Program:

  • Check-in and informal community building
  • "I am..." identity card activity
  • Opening circle
  • Spark session: Intersectional Identities & Authentic Leadership
  • Small group instructions
  • Small group discussions and peer advising on covering, code-switching, and authenticity values alignment
  • Large group debrief on honoring the fullness of our personhood
  • Resources and skillsharing
  • Closing circle
  • Optional happy hour at The Frontier RTP and community dinner at Boxyard RTP

Come for the salon. Stay for the happy hour. Continue your conversations and deepen your connections at an optional community dinner across the street at the Boxyard RTP.

What to Bring:

  • A leadership experience to share where you covered, code-switched, or downplayed your identity/ies to achieve a desired outcome
  • Your problem-solving creativity to help other women reflect on and reimagine their authentic leadership
  • Your open heart and passion for sisterhood, self-development, and collective elevation and action
  • Leadership resources to share (books, podcasts, tools, frameworks)
  • Your notebook or journal, pen/pencil, and reusable drink bottle

Optional Add-On Events

The Frontier RTP offers complimentary wine or beer at its Thursday happy hours. Salon participants are welcome to join their co-hosts, Marie and Katherine, for a (self-pay) community dinner across the street at the Boxyard RTP following happy hour.
