A Late Summer Night’s Dream @ Japanese Garden,

The Japanese Garden Tea Party mission is to inspire the development of a sustainable community culture by curating seasonal/quarterly themed events contributing positively to newly housed Women Veterans’ joy, overall health, happiness, confidence and well being. Simultaneously restoring value to the Japanese Gardens as a place of peace & sanctuary for the newly established Neighborhood society on the WLA VA residential campus.
Afternoon High Tea is the highlight of this themed event: consisting of a full charcuterie spread complete with delectable fruits, nuts, tea cakes and finger sandwiches along with hot and iced tea in a variety of flavors. A feast for the eyes yet gentle on the body. The Japanese Garden Tea Party will proudly support Veterans on their wellness journey by offering plant based choices in abundance. Light luncheon for a warm sunny afternoon in the Garden. The Food is the centerpiece of this themed event.
With workshop topics offering Women’s Empowerment tools, conversations and activities, The Japanese Garden Tea Party is a gathering together of Women Veterans to enjoy the shade trees, koi ponds and each others’ company. Surrounded by trickling water features, birdsong, flora bursting with color and a Teaching Tree to gather and share during workshops. Workshop 1 is facilitated by U.S. Army Veteran Deyanna Denyse, this 2 hour session engages women in deep topics which foster sisterhood and confidence. Each participant in the workshop will receive a Glam bag to take home full of theme relevant goodies.
Paint & Snack expert Phyllis T. Miller will guide Veterans through a Workshop 2 under the Teaching Tree in the Japanese Garden for a Paint and Tea experience each quarter/season. Workshop participants will be provided with and will learn to paint watercolors on delicate rice paper Parasols, fans, lanterns etc. Each Veteran is gifted with a party favour personalized to her own creative taste to enjoy these LA sunny days without concern. Campus Culture at its finest.
