About this Event
The sea has always been a place of stories of resilience, creativity, and deep connection. Women of the Sea is an invitation to gather, watch, and listen to those stories as told through a female lens.
Following the screening, stay for an intimate panel discussion with both filmmakers as they share insights into their creative journeys, the process behind their films, and the importance of representation in sea-based storytelling.
Salt
Directed by Alice Ward
A meditative exploration of our relationship with the ocean, capturing the quiet rituals, rhythms, and emotional pull of the sea.
The Granny Grommets
Directed by Leah Rustomjee
A joyful and defiant celebration of women who took up surfing later in life, rewriting expectations and finding freedom in cold water and community.
The evening also shines a light on Finisterre’s Women of the Sea: Film Fund, a £10,000 annual grant dedicated to supporting female filmmakers in bringing their next sea-inspired story to life.
Come as you are. Leave inspired.
Drinks and snacks will be provided by Harbour Brewing, Pentire, and Popcorn Kitchen.
