The choir Women of Song will present their spring concerts on May 2nd and 3rd. The program’s theme is based on a poem by Langston Hughes: “I dream a world . . . where love will bless the earth and peace its paths adorn.” Sacred and secular works from a variety of periods, styles and languages will be heard, including Joan Szymko’s setting of the Hughes poem. The choir comprises about 50 women from around the metro area and is directed by Patricia Cahalan Connors.Performances are at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church (600 Hopkins Crossroad, Minnetonka) Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. and Annunciation Catholic Church (509 W 54th St., Minneapolis) Sunday, May 3 at 3 p.m. There is no admission charge. A freewill offering benefiting both the Annunciation community and the choir will be collected.
