A panel conversation in honor of Women’s History Month about the power & necessity of women inspiring inclusion in the arts & beyond
About this Event

“Let’s play a game. Name five female artists - and one of them can’t be Georgia O’Keeffe,” challenges Hall W. Rockefeller, Founder of Less Than Half.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people lose the game. Not because there have been no great women artists, but because they have mostly been written out of or overlooked over the course of history.
In honor of Women’s History Month, the art-based social networking community, Women of Culture, has gathered an expert panel of women who work in the art world to explore the question, “why have there been no great women artists?” which was originally posed by Linda Nochlin in 1971.
You will hear from a mix of women in the art world who will discuss the importance of inclusion in the arts and beyond. The panelists will also share their tips for bringing more women into the art world in all facets, why it matters, and what you can do to help make change.
All in the beautiful Pen + Brush Gallery, where attendees will also have the opportunity to experience the exhibition on view.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn more aboout and celebrate the power of women in the arts this Women's History Month!
The event is gender inclusive, free and open to anyone and open to all with an interest in art, culture and community! Full list of panelists forthcoming.

More information about the presenter:

Women of Culture is an inclusive, intergenerational membership-based community designed to connect, empower and inspire women through meaningful engagement with the arts. We create art-based experiences for women with a creative soul who want to live more art-full, socially connected and culture-filled lives.

More information about the host, Pen + Brush Gallery and the 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' exhibition on view:

Pen + Brush is a 130-year-old publicly supported not-for-profit fighting for gender equity in the arts. P+B provides a platform to showcase the work of women, non-binary and female-identified transgender artists and writers to a broader audience with the ultimate goal of effecting real change within the marketplace.

For Women’s History Month this year, Pen + Brush is bringing together curators, art advocates, and visionaries from our community to engage in a meaningful dialogue about what is at stake and in play for women artists working today. This will be accomplished through a group exhibition and discussion titled Hit Me With Your Best Shot. Curators taking part will select one artwork by a woman or non-binary artist that they believe speaks poignantly to the challenges and opportunities facing women artists in the current historical context.

“Dawn Delikat, Executive Director of Pen + Brush, passionately expresses, ‘By bringing our broader community of cultural visionaries together to champion and discuss significant works by women that speak to the current climate we are living in – The goal of the exhibition is to offer a holistic point of view that ignites, inspires, while reenergizing our individual efforts and emphasizes the importance of making and holding space for women artists. This collective celebration is a powerful acknowledgment of the profound impact women have in shaping our narratives, sparking conversations, and influencing positive change.'”
