A Statistics Canada survey done in 2024 on labour force characteristics found that there is still a wide gap in the proportion of female-identifying persons to male-identifying persons employed in the area of trades, transport, and equipment operators: 7.9% to 92.1%.Inspired by welder-turned-artist Cal Lane and her solo exhibition, Industrial Intimacies, this event takes a top-down approach to demystify the trades for anyone who is interested in learning about the sector, with a special focus on women in trades.
From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, visit one of our community partners during the Information Fair to learn about apprenticeships, funding, and organizations that support the trades.
From 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, gather in the magazine lounge on the second floor for a panel discussion on women in the trades.
Registration is required for the Panel Discussion. Register using the Find Tickets link.
