About this Event

The Jar Test: Positioning & Strategy for Growth

Running a business gets harder before it gets clearer. This workshop is for that moment. In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll be introduced to The Jar Test, a practical diagnostic designed for founders who are too close to their own business to read it objectively — and want a way to test their own perspective when there isn’t another brain to borrow.

Led by Liana Fricker, positioning and strategy partner for expert-led businesses and Founder of The Inspiration Space, you’ll work through a simple structure that looks at your business across a small number of core areas, including:

  • where value already exists but isn’t being fully used
  • where things are more complex than they need to be
  • where decisions are being delayed, avoided, or overthought
  • where the business relies too heavily on you to hold it all together

As we go, work in collaboration with fellow business owners to apply this directly to your own business.

You will leave with a clearer picture of what’s actually going on, and a small number of moves that make sense to act on next.

Who this if for

This workshop is for you if:

● you’re doing the work, and want to keep seeing the return you expect

● you’re thinking about your next move, but keep circling the same ideas

● your business is established, but something feels harder than it should

● you’ve outgrown how things currently work, but haven’t restructured yet

● you need a way to interpret what’s already there instead of yet more information that you can Google

What you'll leave with

By the end of the session, you’ll have:

● language to describe what’s actually going on

● a clearer, more objective view of your business

● a practical way to assess what’s working and what isn’t

● and a small number of focused next steps you can act on immediately

Limited to 15 places - book your space soon! This workshop is aimed at women in business.

Other events and background

The “Enterprising Women” Series of Workshops is rolling out across Waverley’s four main settlements, each session exploring key topics that women in business consistently identify as both essential and challenging. The programme will cover finance, AI and emerging technologies, social media, and practical start‑up guidance, with each workshop delivered in depth by sector specialists.

Waverley’s workshops form part of a broader commitment to championing female entrepreneurs - an area in which the borough already excels. Across Waverley, women are leading at every level of local enterprise, from Business Improvement District Managers and Chairs to Presidents of Chambers of Commerce. Their achievements have been highlighted through Waverley’s “Women in Business” features and case studies, which showcase the breadth and strength of women‑led organisations in the area
