Words & Walks presents, ‘Women Between The Lines at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery ’ a guided walking tour celebrating the untold stories of women in Birmingham. Explore the city through a new lens, as Words & Walks take you on an interactive tour, shining a light on the hidden voices of women, both past and present.

The walk is in collaboration with Birminham Museum & Art Gallery and is a response to the "Found Cities-Lost Objects" exhibition curated by Lubaina Himid CBE. The Exhibition is open till 4.September 2022

The tour will be lead by Iris Bertz, Director of Bertz Associates and Poet Simone Word Smith who has created a spoken word piece in response to research led by Emily Baldwin. It will start at the Museum & Art Gallery and lead us through the centre of the city highlighting stories from a diverse library of women. The focus will range from the Suffragettes, artists, musicians, through to the modern everyday women who are under-celebrated, yet consistently make a difference. Discover the challenges, triumphs, and be inspired by the history that goes beyond the textbooks.

The tour will finish at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery , and there will be an opportnity to join us at the Edwardian Tearooms to exchange ideas. There will be refreshment available to purchase.

The Walk will start outside Main Entrance of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square, Birmingham, B3 3DH
