This year, the International Womans Day theme is “give to gain”. In a time that rewards individualism, we’re choosing something different. When you give your presence, you gain connection. When you give your dollars, our community gains impact. WOMEN
This fundraiser takes place on the unceded, ancestral, and territorial land of the Sinixt. We acknowledge the Autonomous Sinixt Smum Iem law — “belongs to the women.”
Proceeds will directly support Sinixt matriarch Marilyn James and the Nelson & District Women’s Centre, whose work provides essential resources, advocacy, and safety for women in our community.
We honor the women who have always held communities together — often without recognition, always with strength.
LIFE
We’ll be hosting a conversation on menstrual equity. About women's stories and lived experience.
Across the world, women continue to face gender oppression, apartheid, femicide, and systemic underfunding of basic needs. These realities shape every-day life.
And life is lived inside of our bodies. It is created inside of our bodies. It deserves dignity, safety and care. We gather to defend that within our community.
FREEDOM
Music and dancing together have long been tools of resistance. The ability and privilege to move freely is not something we take lightly.
We come together around music that amplifies voices — music that brings us back into our bodies and voices. Music holds space for grief, joy, anger and resilience. Dancing moves it through.
Freedom is not just talked about, it is practiced ❤
We hope you will join us.
