As part of Our History is Your History – Works by Jewish Artists in the SAMA Permanent Collection, the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art will present two screenings of the acclaimed film Woman in Gold (2015). This powerful biographical drama tells the true story of Maria Altmann’s courageous effort to reclaim artwork stolen from her family by the Nazis during World War II. The film explores themes of justice, cultural heritage, and the enduring importance of preserving artistic legacy. Screenings will be held Sunday, April 26 at 2:00 PM and Friday, May 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM, offering visitors a meaningful cinematic experience that complements the exhibition’s exploration of history, identity, and resilience. A suggested $5 donation supports this and future SAMA programs. Popcorn and drinks will be available—just bring a friend and enjoy the show! The exhibition is funded [in part] by the Greater Altoona Jewish Federation and a grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development (visitpa.com).
