The box office is open and tickets are on sale 🎟Join us on an epic musical journey through the solar system in an evening filled with dramatic pulsing rhythms, glorious melodies, and unforgettable tunes. We are delighted to have guest conductor, Andrew Morley and guest leader, Dan Kent back with us for the Autumn season, and excited to return to the Ipswich Corn Exchange for this concert.
As well as Holst's symphonic blockbuster, The Planets Suite, our programme includes John Williams' fabulous orchestral suite of music from Star Wars. We will also perform two evocative pieces used prominently in the Stanley Kubrick film, 2001: A Space Odyssey - R Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra fanfare (used in the opening sequence and The Dawn of Man) and J Strauss' waltz, The Blue Danube (which accompanies the celestial dance of the space shuttle docking).
Each movement of The Planets Suite depicts the mythological character of a planet, from the relentless and menacing march of Mars, to the sweeping melody of Jupiter. For the sublime ending of the suite - mystical Neptune - we are pleased to be joined by members of the Royal Hospital School Chapel Choir.
Tickets: £16.00, and £4.00 for children/full time students
