About this Event
Join us for a curated poetry performance by the author, poet, educator, and speaker, Alyesha Wise. Woke in a World is a never-before-seen showcase of storytelling and select poems from Wise's latest collection, My Older Brother, A Famous Rapper.
My Older Brother, A Famous Rapper is a "memoir in verse" that uses hip-hop as a framework to discuss pain, resilience, and the search for connection, blending personal narrative with social commentary on issues like justice reform and toxic masculinity. It explores themes of family, identity, and healing through raw, personal stories inspired by her relationship with her older brother.
