About this Event
Are you an early childhood educator, teacher or librarian?
Help us support the revival of Woi-wurrung language and Care for Country together. Join us for a Woi-worrung language workshop on Thursday, 20 November at Sam Merrifield Library.
This professional development session will help educators and librarians build capacity to integrate language and stories into lessons and education spaces.
The session will be facilitated by Djirri Djirri, the only Wurundjeri female dance group, and are Traditional Custodians of Narrm (Melbourne) and surrounds. Djirri Djirri means Willy Wagtail in Woiwurrung, our Mother Tongue. The Willy Wagtail is the Spirit’s Messenger and gave us dance!
This workshop covers the basics of how Woiwurrung language is formed and pronounced. It will include interactive activities as well as general information about revival of languages around Victoria.
