Three events in one!
1. For students on the Worship: Leading & Preaching course, Explore' sessions for Module 3. Sat 27th September, 10am – 5pm , Sunday 28th September 10am – 4pm. You must have completed studying the Learn material for this module before the weekend.
2. For students on the Worship: Leading & Preaching course, Explore' sessions for Module 7. Sat 27th September, 10am – 5pm & Sun 28th September, 10am – 4pm. You must have completed studying the Learn material for this module before the weekend.
3. If you already lead worship or preach, or would like to explore getting involved: On Saturday, an inspiring programme of learning and ideas to enrich your ministry, featuring: Holly Adams (Director of evangelism) on Faith formation in a complex world; Peter Lee & Rev Rachel Bending exploring difficult ethical and practical issues; and Jonathan Robinson and Alison Geddes exploring different musical styles and worship settings.
No cost for attendance, lunch is provided, but you need to organise your own travel and accommodation if staying over in Salisbury. We encourage circuits to support their students with travel and accommodation costs. Sat 27th September 10am – 5pm only.
You can only book for one option, as the three options take place at the same time.
About this event
Learning together is at the heart of the Worship: Leading & Preaching course for local preachers and worship leaders in the Methodist Church. Students belong to a Tutor Group in their circuit or district, but it is not always possible to meet with a wider group to talk through what you’ve learned and the questions that arise.
Explore Weekends provide that opportunity – the three Explore sessions for a complete module are provided over a weekend away. The format is similar to the Explore Online events, but with the advantage of meeting together with others in person, facilitated by the Learning Network and local experts.
For this event, Explore sessions for modules 3 and 7 will be offered – you must choose between them below, as it’s not possible to do both in the same weekend.
Note that to join this weekend, you will need to (i) Be enrolled on the WLP course, (ii) To have completed the self-study Learn material for your chosen module, and (iii) Have a local Tutor and Mentor.
All existing Local Preachers and Worship Leaders from across the connexion are also welcome to attend on Saturday only for a day of learning and development to inspire us and grow our skills and understanding. The sessions will be relevant to all those who lead worship, or wish to become involved. A great opportunity to meet with others, compare experiences and ideas and do some continuing development.
Key Details
Attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation. A number of reasonably-priced hotels are available in the area, but early booking is recommended.
For students, the WLP Explore sessions will be held on Saturday (10:30-12:30 and 13:30-15:30) and Sunday (13:30-15:30).
On Saturday, doors will be open from 09:30, and Explore sessions will be complete by 16:30. The event will close with worship by 5pm.
On Sunday, we will join the local congregation for worship in the morning, and all sessions will be complete by 16:00.
