Get away from the muggle world for a weekend of magic at McMenamins Kennedy School with the wizard activists of SPEWW! Visit Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, and Hogsmeade, participate in special games and activities, and enjoy magically themed food and drink in the Great Hall.Wizarding Weekend is free and open to the public! Only the movies require a ticket.
This year there will be a variety of magical movies all weekend (non-Harry Potter), we'll be doing another mash-up for Sunday's costume contest. We're looking for your best Wizarding World character combined with a Muggle sport.
We will be collecting school supplies for Boys and Girls Aid, which is committed to ensuring children and youth are able to build lifelong stability through connections to loving families, supportive adults, and nurturing environments. Harry didn't have the best childhood before he came to Hogwarts and an organization like Boys and Girls Aid would have helped him immensely in finding a better placement for him than the Dursleys. We believe he would have founded a similar organization to help other orphaned children, because not everyone has a vault full of Galleons or a great family like the Weasleys to escape to.
Keep an eye on the event for more details, including the movies, House meet-ups, and more!
SPEWW (formerly PDXpelliarmus) is an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to literacy, equality, and human rights. We stand with the Harry Potter fandom, and we believe there still good to be done in Harry’s name. We are committed to helping uplift and empower the transgender community as well as create safe spaces for all LGBTQIA+ people in the HP fandom.
