Slavery in Harwinton
On June 6, 2026, the Hungerford Memorial Museum, in conjunction with the 8th grade Social Studies class at Har-Bur Middle School, will honor another one of Harwinton's 1700s child slaves named Violet. Violet’s Witness Stone will be placed alongside last years honoree, Cyrus. A special ceremony will be held at the museum at 50 Burlington Rd. at 1:00 PM to honor Violet and to tell her story. The ceremony will presented by a couple of Har-Bur students (TBD). The public is invited to attend. Please share.
