"Within the Unraveling: A Duo Show” is our second 2025 @Zella's Art Show, presented by Sowebo Artists in cooperation with Union Square Association, and curated by Noelle Imparato of Painting For Life. It features Stephanie Chupein and Helen Pappas, two renowned artists from the Baltimore area. Here is what they say about their duo show.
“Within the Unraveling” is a series of paintings that bear witness to the simultaneous collapse of our democracy and natural world. The work looks at the fragile political, ecological, and personal systems that are fraying under pressure. Even so, it invites us to breathe and find stillness within the chaos. The process suggests that equanimity is a quiet form of resistance and resilience. “Within the Unraveling” becomes a meditation on how to remain centered while everything around us appears to be coming undone.
