About this Event
Join the opening of "With Love Nieuw-West 2" exhibition.
15:00 - 18:00, Zaventemweg 89, Amsterdam.
This series is focused on the makers from Amsterdam Nieuw-West. This is the second exhibition from a series of three. This series is dedicated to works and practices that relate to the subject of transcendental love. We see it as love that transcends categories, heals, and contributes to peace. We live in a time when polarization resulted in a new wave of planetary crisis: the division of body, mind and soul, nature and culture, individual and collective. With Love is a reaction to the current situation. This exhibition is focused on cultivating the relation and honoring what has passed from the one hand and the power of letting go while keeping a connection. The world of childhood is a uniting theme for both artists.
Duality of Love. Scales of Thoth by Wolf Maria Mulder, 2024
Scales of Thoth is an art project about the power of transcendent love in the aftermath of grief. Wolf Maria Mulder is an artist who reveals, preserves and cherishes memories, stories and events. He creates ‘souvenirs’ of everyday moments, showing the hidden beauty of these moments. For the series With love he created an art piece about the power of transcendental love after the loss of his son. This work is a tribute to Ree and to all parents who have lost a child. It is a search for wisdom and meaning in the grieving process, and a celebration of the power of transcendent love that connects us.

Between Worlds, 2024
Mixed media installation by Boyan Montero
This installation is an ode to childhood and a way to reconnect with it through two
elements: a paper drawing on the wall and an object-based drawing on the floor. The
wall drawing serves as a message for your inner child, while the floor piece
gathers toys and clothes from the artist’s childhood, objects they try to preserve
as markers of memory.
Boyan Montero ( living and working between Amsterdam and Sofia, they/them)
is a multidisciplinary artist rooted in drawing. Their practice uses fiction to
explore human experience, spark imagination and creativity, reflect on and critique
culture, and provide emotional catharsis. It delves into paradoxical themes such as
chaos and order, life and death. Embracing complexity and contradiction as inherent
qualities of human existence, Montero works across various media, including
collage, text, music, photography, and digital media, transforming their drawings
into installations and performances. Their creations often incorporate text and
involve collaboration with others.
