ONE DAY ONLY!
Witchy Boots Fundraiser Film Screening at The Jolly Scholar
Witchy Boots is a spirited and empowering documentary that plays like Happy Hour at your favorite pub, exploring both historical and modern women that shape the craft beer industry. From trailblazing founders accused of witchcraft to contemporary voices carving space in the male-dominated field, the film captures the movement toward inclusion, creativity, and sisterhood inside the brewhouse.
Produced by two local Emmy® award-winning filmmakers and based off of industry insider Tara Nurin’s A Woman’s Place Is in the Brewhouse: A Forgotten History of Alewives, Brewsters, Witches, and CEOs, Witchy Boots includes participation from Pink Boots Society to help showcase a mosaic of voices, including queer, BIPOC, and otherwise underrepresented women, whose passion for fermentation becomes a lens for empowerment and community. Between bursts of laughter and riffs of rock music, witness how these “witchy” innovators are brewing change and joy in equal measure.
This special matinee screening will take place inside the taproom at The Jolly Scholar, which is featured in the film alongside one of its brewers, Jessica Ihms, on the campus of Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. On top of delicious craft beer created by Jessica herself available on draft , it will feature special in-person guest Tara Nurin, author of the book upon which the film was based. Director and producer J.S. Phillips will also be in attendance. Following the film, there will be a brief Q&A session and then Tara will be hosting a book signing event. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from ticket and merch sales will go to support Pink Boots Society's Cleveland chapter!
