About this Event
The Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies (WIPCS) 40th annual conference, hosted by the Marquette University Center for Peacemaking and Peace Studies, invites students, academics and activists to the Marquette campus for a one-day conference. This year’s conference theme is “A More Peaceful and Just Future is Possible: Charting Paths from Failed Institutions to Collective Liberation.”
We will start the conference on Thursday, April 3 with our opening plenary event, "A Conversation on Gaza and Next Steps for Collective Liberation." This will be a moderated panel discussing lived experiences of the war on Gaza, nonviolent resistance against the war, and how this moment sets the stage for collective liberation. Speakers include Dr. Thaer Ahmad, Huwaida Arraf, and Julie Kosowski. This event will be held at Concordia 27, located at 801 N. 27th St. in Milwaukee, WI. Doors will open at 5:30pm. The program will run from 6-7:30pm.
There will be multiple ways to engage throughout the day on Friday, April 4, including panels, plenaries, workshops, creative presentations, displays, and discussion sessions, concluding with the annual awards ceremony.
Registration runs from March 1 until April 1, with on-site registration available on April 4. To guarantee lunch at the conference, please select one of the "w/Lunch" ticket options by Wednesday, March 19.
The draft schedule will be released on Tuesday, March 4.
