The Winthrop Balloon Festival kicks off each morning at sunrise, with the balloons inflating behind the Winthrop Inn. Witnessing the simultaneous inflation of 15-20 hot air balloons is an experience filled with awe and excitement. With Seattle Ballooning, as one of the main ride operators, you have the chance to be one of the 80 guests daily who get to experience Winthrop from the sky. Info: The Winthrop Balloon Roundup attracts 15 - 20 hot air balloons to the festival each year. This year the balloons will launch (weather permitting March 6th, 7th, 8th). The Balloons launch around sunrise each day from the back of the Winthrop Inn. It is free to come and watch the balloons fly or take photos. Info: The Winthrop Balloon Roundup Festival Balloon Glow is something you won't want to miss! 3-5 hot air balloon inflate in the middle of the street in OldTown Winthrop. Many of the balloons are vintage hot air balloons from the 60s and 70s. You can come up and chat with the pilots, take tons of photos, and use the burners flame from the balloons to keep you hands warm! The balloon glow in Winthrop is quite a sight to see!
