According to Ayurveda the sister science of Yoga, during winter months, the Kapha dosha is active. Therefore, we feel sluggish, our digestion slows down, we tend to resort to comfort foods and thus gain weight! The weight gain due to inactivity or inflammation contributes to stiffness in the joints.
The holiday season celebrations often involve a diet high in ultra-processed foods, sugar, and fat and being sedentary also contribute to weight gain. If you have trouble losing weight despite best efforts, this is because obesity is a complex issue.
In these set of classes we will go over many of these struggles such as taking care of stiff joints and incorporating poses to facilitate the elimination process to keep up the immunity & weightloss. There is good research that yoga helps one to manage stress, improve emotional health and curb emotional eating which can help with weight loss and maintenance.Yoga also helps you burn calories, as well as increase your muscle mass and tone. Yoga reduces joint pain, which in turn allows you to sleep better, feel more energized and increase your daily activities. These are only some of the many benefits of yoga.
