Winter Walk for Well-being & Writing Wandsworth Town

As the days begin to lengthen, get some gentle exercise and pay attention to emerging signs of spring. We will meet at Wandsworth Town Library and then set off on a walk lasting around an hour. On our return to the library, Hilaire will lead participants in a creative writing workshop, reflecting on what you have experienced and then drawing on that to write a poem.

Following the workshop, a selection of poems written in the workshop will be published in a free booklet.

Info: Hilaire will lead a walk around local streets and green spaces, returning to the library. The walk will be step free and taken at a modest pace. Please dress appropriately for the weather, as the walk will go ahead unless severe weather is forecast. In the event of severe weather, an indoor activity focussed on nature will take place in the library, followed by the poetry workshop.

Info: Back at the library, Hilaire will lead a poetry workshop, where you will reflect on the walk, and through exercises and discussion, write a poem reflecting on your experience. No previous experience is required. Hot drinks will be available, and paper and pens/pencils provided. While the event is primarily aimed at adults, children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Following the workshop, a booklet of poems written by participants will be published, distributed for free to participants with copies also donated to all Wandsworth libraries and the Wandsworth Heritage Service.
