Winter Village’s Opening Concert kicks of the weekend by featuring two of our camp faculty duo’s - Emily Miller & Jesse Milnes and Hildaland (Louise Bichan & Ethan Setiawan).
Emily & Jesse perform country and old-time music, singing close harmony with Jesse's unique finger-picked guitar style and a healthy dose of old-time fiddling. They make their home in central West Virginia where they often play for square dances. They love teaching harmony singing, often with Emily's mother Val Mindel, who taught and performed at Winter Village 2024.
Hildaland, featuring Louise Bichan & Ethan Setiawan, is a collaboration and meeting of musical worlds, steeped in the fiddle traditions of their respective sides of the Atlantic. The journey taken wends through Scottish, oldtime, and Swedish inspired music intertwined with contemporary compositions. Bichan’s fiddle is a melodic foil to Setiawan’s counterpoint and harmonic depth, and the two weave in and out seamlessly.
Opening concert tickets are NOT included in your weekend registration fee. Tickets cost $20 in advance (plus Eventbrite fees) and $25 at the door.
