This informal, fun and free workshop that aims to increase your understanding of local species and improve your ability to identify them.
About this Event

This event is in partnership with . Thank you to Scottish Canals for allowing us to use this venue.

Join us at The Farlkirk Wheel where you will learn how to identify the different types of broadleaf trees that call Scotland home, including some orchard and edible varieties. There will be an indoor presentation covering common species and key terms/characteristics, then a practical session in the afternoon to experience identifying trees.

This workshop is aimed at complete beginners, so don't worry if you're completely new to identifying trees.

For ages 18+

What to bring - Notebook, pen, smartphone, drink and snack (all optional).

What to wear - Please check the weather, we will be outside and in woodlands so please wear appropriate clothing and shoes

Where to meet - Parking available at The Farlkirk Wheel, we will be in the Blueprint Room which you can access via the main entrance

This event also contributes to FEL's Community Food Grower's Leadership Programme, which invites participants to attend three themed sessions:

Take part in one session from each theme to earn your Climate Leadership Certificate and an invitation to join our 2025 Climate Leader networking events.
