The presentation will include the history of A.C. Gilbert Erector sets from 1913 to 1952, including the railroad sets, with displays.Mr. Russ Neiswander has been a Sugarcreek resident for 57 years. At the age of eight he received his first erector set; a 1951 No. 4-1/2 in a cardboard box. This set was known as “The Motorized Set.” His brother gave him his second set for Christmas and it is considered his favorite; a No. 6-1/2. Russ was a quick study in electrical and took his first electrician apprentice job in 1962. Later, in 1977, he opened Russ Electric Inc. in Sugarcreek, Ohio, where he remained the owner for 45 years before handing it down to his family.
Russ’s presentation will include displays of some of his Erector sets, both in set and built form. These sets will be accompanied by Tom Reder’s train Erector sets.
