Winter Solstice is December 21. While it’s the longest night of the year, it’s also the beginning of the return of the light, and with it hope. Each culture celebrates differently, but all honor the return of the figuratively and symbolically.
As we gather, we begin with deep breathing and a relaxed body and mind, then move into a guided meditation. We follow this with a creative response, with art-making, poetry or another creative endeavor as you wish.
If you don't have much experience making art, this is a judgement free zone. The point is not to make great art, but to express yourself. Just have some basic materials, like some blank paper, at least 8" x 10." Bigger is better. You can have pastels, oil pastels or colored pencils, or just a pen or pencil. I will offer some assistance. Whatever you feel comfortable with. If you are experienced, you know what to do.
