Due to the nature of the smelt run being a natural event that doesn't subscribe to our sense of timing or schedules, this event date may change as we get closer to March 15th. Join us for the 2026 smelt run as we spend the morning capturing the birds and other wildlife that prowl the waterways during this exciting natural event!
We hope to capture beautiful images in the early morning light of numerous species of waterfowl, raptors and other wildlife who feed on the smelt and/or frequent the area, such as otters, sea lions, nutria, and beavers! Lester will give a brief talk on an assortment of topics including gear, technique, settings, as well as other tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your camera and take amazing photos!
Pro Photo Supply will have a few extra pieces of Sony gear from their Rental Department. Please note that this gear will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and as such all attendees are strongly encouraged to bring there own camera equipment or place a rental reservation personally. A discount code for the rental department will be included in your confirmation email.
IMPORTANT DETAIL ABOUT THIS MEETUP: The specific meeting point will be provided in your registration confirmation email, we will not be meeting at Pro Photo Supply prior to meeting up in the field.
ABOUT LESTER TSAI
Lester Tsai is an award-winning professional photographer from Portland, Oregon. After spending 10 years in Singapore opening and owning several companies, he moved back stateside to New York City before returning home to the Pacific Northwest and starting his photography business. Shooting everything from real estate to weddings to portraits to pay the bills, this versatile photographer's true passion lies in nature, wildlife and astrophotography. This photo walk is limited to 20 spots with a minimum of 10 registered attendees needed. In the event the minimum isn't met, the session will be canceled and registered attendees will receive full refunds.
This event has limited space due to permit limitations, as a result, registration is required for each attendee. If you are on the waitlist for this event, you will receive a notification, via email, if a space becomes available for you.
PRICING, FEES & REFUNDS
In the event of a refund, Eventbrite Fees are not refundable. Eventbrite fees are only refunded if an event is canceled.
Refunds will be considered if submitted prior to 24 hours before a planned workshop.
Refunds are unavailable post-event date.
