About this Event

We are so excited to bring you our 2nd annual Winter Jazz Dance Workshop! This class line-up is nothing short of spectacular and we hope you can join us!!

Artist Bios:

Joshua Blake Carter

Joshua Blake Carter is the Artistic Director of Dance Kaleidoscope in Indianapolis, IN. Originally from Atlanta, GA, he spent 14 years in Chicago with Giordano Dance Chicago, first as a dancer and then as an administrator and Director of Giordano II, a position he held for 10 years. During his time at GDC, Joshua created three original works for the main company and nine original works for Giordano II. As a freelance artist, he has created works for dance companies, theater companies, and events across the nation. Joshua was the 2009 winner of Wonderbound’s (formerly Ballet Nouveau Colorado) national choreography competition dancemakers2.0. In 2013, he was commissioned to create a new work for DanceWorks Chicago’s DanceMoveschoreography competition, and he was awarded the Producers’ Panel Prize by the Ruth Page Foundation for his work, Ripen. Joshua’s choreography for Disney’s Newsies at the Paramount Theatre was nominated for a Jeff Award and a Regional Broadway World Award. Other commissions include Missouri Contemporary Ballet, Nomi Dance Company, Visceral Dance Chicago, and Artifact Dance Project, as well as an original work for Embarq with Joffrey Ballet. In 2016, he created the finale for the event Sing! Featuring Elton John. Joshua has been an Artist in Residence with Brenau University, Glendale Community College, Illinois State University, Salve Regina University, and Southeast Missouri State University.


Caitlin Gray

Born in NYC, Caitlin Gray's diverse background, which includes dance, gymnastics and circus arts, has made her a much sought-after teacher and choreographer. She believes that teaching is an integral part of giving back to the dance community and has taught master classes all over the U.S. and abroad, including South Africa, United Kingdom, U.A.E., Turkey, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Canada and Australia.

Caitlin has most-notably worked with director Baz Luhrmann and Oscar-winner Catherine Martin on both the World and Australian premieres of their film “The Great Gatsby”, earning rave reviews. She has also choreographed for the CBS show, “Reckless”, featuring Cam Gigandet (“Twilight”, “Burlesque”) and Anna Wood. Caitlin has worked extensively with Sony Music, choreographing live performances and music videos for many of their artists, including The Veronicas (“You Ruin Me”, ARIA Winner, Best Video of the Year) and Bonnie Anderson (“Blackout”, “Rodeo”). Additional credits include the BMW Series 5 Launch in Singapore, featuring activist Lewis Pugh, Marina Bay Sands “Beyond Expectations” in Tokyo, featuring David Beckham, NBC Kids, Miss USA, Speedo Internationalʼs Olympic Product Launch, featuring Michael Phelps, Liberty Bowl Halftime Show, featuring American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, and several music tours, including performances on the Big Time Rush Tour.

Theatre credits include Spring Awakening, The Moors, Head Over Heels, The Tempest, Eve’s Turn (Broadway workshop) and Saturday Night Fever. Caitlin conceived, directed and choreographed a short dance film, Reverie, and it won 17 awards on the film festival circuit, including Best Film, Best Music Video and Best Director.

Caitlin is a faculty member at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in NYC, and is also on faculty at Kennesaw State University, Department of Dance. Autumn Eckman

Autumn Eckman is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Kennesaw State University. A graduate of the Houston Ballet Academy, she had the privilege to dance with Giordano Dance Chicago where she also served as Assistant Artistic Director, Resident Choreographer and Director Giordano II, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Luna Negra Dance Theatre, Lucky Plush Productions, Ron De Jesus Dance, State Street Ballet and The Cambrians. Her choreographic commissions include original eleven original Giordano Dance Dance Chicago as well as for companies State Street Ballet (Artist-In-Residence), DanceWorks Chicago, Visceral Dance Chicago, The Cambrians, Chattanooga Ballet, Kit Modus, Big Muddy Dance Co., Wylliams-Henry Dance Company (supported by New Dance Partners), Missouri Contemporary Ballet, Gainesville Ballet, Washington & Lee University, Stephens College, Western Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her choreography has been presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Bates Dance Festival, Performática (Mexico), Solo Duo Dance Festival (NYC), Detroit Dance City Festival, Charlotte Dance Festival, Blackbox International Theatre & Dance Festival (Bulgaria), Dance Gallery Festival (TX), Men In Dance Festival (WA), as a Finalist of the McCallum Choreography Competition (CA) and with JUNTOS Collective (Guatemala) where she served as Outreach Choreographer. She holds an MFA in Choreography from the University of Iowa and is certified in the Giordano Jazz Dance Technique through the Nan Giordano Certification Program and in Level One of Revolutionary Principles of Movement. She is dedicated to sharing her experience of over 20 years of performing, choreographing and teaching/mentorship and has served as master faculty for organizations including The Ballet Alliance Festival, Open Doors Dance Festival, Vitacca Vocational School for Dance, the Bates Dance Festival. A former Instructor of Dance at Northern Illinois University and Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Arizona, Autumn recently returned to Atlanta and served as inaugural faculty at the School of the Arts at Central Gwinnett High School for the 2021-2022 academic year.
