This event guides SMEs on winning government contracts, featuring insights from the QLD Small Business Commissioner
About this Event

The Queensland Government spends around $18 billion on products and services from the private sector every single year. On top of this, Treasury forecasts that over $180 billion in spending will be required for the 2032 Olympic Games. Fortunately, 30% of this must be sourced from the SME (small to medium) business sector!

Forward-thinking businesses have a significant opportunity to grow and scale by partnering with and securing Government contracts. This event will provide insights and best practices on:

  1. Understanding what Government and Big Business are looking for in their SME partners
  2. The Government opportunity for SMEs and why most Government tenders fail
  3. What your business needs to win Government and "big business" contracts
  4. The 3% Rule: how to leverage it to help win Government business

Special Guest: Gov Ready is thrilled to have Queensland Small Business Commissioner Dominique Lamb join us for this event! Dominique and her team are dedicated champions for all Queensland small businesses. She will provide insight into the role of the QSBC, how they support our small business community, and perhaps even share some success stories of smaller businesses that have won and fulfilled Government contracts and tenders.

Presenter:
Thomas Pollock, Director - Gov Ready

As the Founder of Gov Ready, Thomas Pollock brings with him nearly two decades of expertise in navigating the complex landscape of Government business, procurement and our small-to-medium business sector. Motivated by a desire to ensure smaller businesses are more fairly represented in Government supply chains, he has fostered strategic collaborations with government entities, the SME sector, and major corporations.

His book, “Winning Government Business: The 6 Rules and 9 Absolutes,” serves as a comprehensive guide, a reflection of his extensive knowledge and hands-on experience acquired over nearly two decades.

In 2019, Thomas Pollock established Gov Ready, a pivotal institution dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of Queensland businesses. Gov Ready exists to offer essential support to businesses striving to fortify their positions, pursue government contracts, and win Government business.

Presenter:
Dominique Lamb, QLD Small Business Commissioner

Dominique Lamb became the Small Business Commissioner in December 2022. With a strong background in industrial relations and employment law, she aims to improve the environment for small businesses in Queensland and reduce dispute resolution costs. Dominique has expanded the Small Business Friendly (SBF) Program to 49 Councils and established three new roundtables for industry and regional stakeholders. She is also committed to social causes, especially addressing domestic and family violence.
