The Two Hewalds (m.c. 692CE) Missionaries to the pagan region of “Old Saxony” from whence many of the Saxon tribes who had come and established the realm of England in the sixth century CE., Natives to Northumbria and with both having the same given name (Hewald or Ewald) they were distinguished from one another as “The Black” and “The White/Fair” due to their hair colour and complexion. They both suffered a fairly brutal martyrdom near modern day Dortmund at the hands of the pagan Saxons and their bodies thrown into the River Rhine. Several miraculous events happened afterwards to enable their bodies to be recovered and their remains were interred at Cologne.
Do our differences help or hinder our mission?

Wine Before Breakfast (WBB) combines the 7am Friday morning Eucharist with alternative readings from poetry, reflections and other sources with musical offerings that match the theme of the day. Focus is on the world around us, concentrating on issues of social justice, community and living out the truth of the Gospel message.

Following Eucharist, we will adjourn for a nourishing breakfast at a nearby cafe to continue our time of reflection and celebration together with convivial company and conversation. No-one is turned away for lack of funds. Please come and share your light and life with us!

All are welcome!
