The Nazareth University Wind Symphony presents Ecstatic Waters, a concert exploring imagination, conflict, and transformation through contemporary wind repertoire. The program opens with music from Howl’s Moving Castle by Joe Hisaishi (arr. Yo Goto), followed by the world premiere of Firebomb: A War-Torn Rhapsody by Kyan Cheung, winner of Nazareth University’s Composition Competition. Winner of the Graduate Concerto Competition, guest soloist Aleta Tessaglia-Hymes joins the ensemble for movements from the Soprano Saxophone Concerto by John Mackey. The concert concludes with Ecstatic Waters by Steven Bryant, a large-scale work inspired by the poetry of W. B. Yeats and futurist thought, tracing a dramatic arc from innocence and exuberance through chaos and mechanized order to reflection and reconciliation.
