CONCERT DETAILS
Guest conductor Katharina Wincor takes the podium to lead an energetic and playful symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich. He wrote this piece as a student, and it quickly put him on the map, making it one of his best-known works.
Pianist Polina Osetinskaya joins the performance with a powerful and emotional piano concerto by Robert Schumann. The piece blends gentle, expressive moments with bold, exciting passages, making it both moving and memorable.
What to Expect:
- A special appearance by rising conductor Katharina Wincor, bringing fresh energy to Shostakovich’s first symphony
- A short but impactful piece by Anton Webern, inspired by an old musical form built around repeating patterns and creative variations
- A performance on the MSO’s Steinway piano, made possible by the generous support of Michael and Jeanne Schmitz
