A warm welcome is waiting for you here at The Workshop in Whitley Bay. Its a light, airy, cosy space to come and relax and immerse yourself in the joy of willow weaving a Berry Basket. Late spring is abundant with early berries, herbs and salad leaves. Your beautiful hand crafted Berry Basket, made by you with local Northumbrian willow, is a perfect size to collect these seasonal jewels. Basket emptied, its now a casual bag.
This workshop is ideal for a beginner who is looking to build their skills and interest in willow weaving. This workshop will give you the opportunity to learn the techniques of basket making, traditional weaves, a border and adding and pegging a handle.
Willow weavers with experience will have the chance to hone their skills, doming a base, basket surgery, fixing and pegging handles. Its very satisfying.
Please note this is very intense on your hands and fingers. If you do have problems then contact me to talk about a workshop that would physically suit you better.
All materials are provided, willow is included in the price.

If cycling, the premises has a secure back yard to stow your bike.
Other parking, non-permit 10m down from my shop on Whitley Road. Also opposite the shop is Alma Place. Behind my shop are other non-permit streets.
Metro stations are Whitley Bay Metro and Cullercoats Metro. Both no more than 5 - 10 mins walk.
The toilet facilities are up 2 steps and down 2 steps.
What to bring
It is approximately a 5 hour workshop so do bring a packed lunch.
Gardening gloves if you have sensitivity to willow.
A friend, always nice to share the experience.
