We will “move like willow” through Qigong movement with Michael Vasquez in the morning at Vesper Meadow Restoration Preserve, enjoy a bag lunch in the meadow, and then an early afternoon willow planting in Latgawa Creek. Willow is like a ‘magic stick’ where a length of cut willow can root and grow out into full willow bushes. Willow is also a primary food for beavers and an important habitat for birds. Qigong is a 5,000 year old practice that supports mental and physical flexibility, improves balance, boots the immune system, and is a practice that supports awareness of your self, and the state of your mind/body/spirit. There will be an invitation to join in a 60 minute Qigong movement practice during this event.
Michael has been teaching Tai Chi and Qigong for 40+ years and is the author of The Bamboo Path - which provides an inviting view into how the traditional path of growth and development is the same path to releasing the past traumas and limitations, the interferences that filter our perceptions and create ongoing compound conditions. Learning to support health and well being is founded in knowing and understanding ourselves deeply, healing inner resistances from the past and developing the ability to harmonize the heart and mind.
All are welcome, recommended for ages 12 and up.
We will be movement on and walking over generally flat but uneven terrain, and planting willow in Latgawa Creek.
Bring a bag lunch, layers of clothing, waders or waterproof boots (we have some you can borrow if needed) and water. We will provide the snacks!
FREE EVENT - donations accepted.
