About this Event
William Ryall is a veteran of 15 Broadway shows and has survived to sing about it in his new Cabaret Evening: WHY CAN’T I WALK AWAY? My 34 Years On Broadway (The Good, the Bad, and the Wicked) It’s an evening about one man’s journey in his quest to conquer The Great White Way, with tales of the Shows, Stars and Directors he has worked with along the way including the incredible highs and devastating lows. His resume includes mega-hits (WICKED) and major flops (THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE GOES PUBLIC) and everything in between. With the persistence and fortitude needed to sustain a career in the theater he simultaneously charts the ups and downs of his personal life with stories of love, betrayal, and ultimately happiness. Bill includes excerpts from some of his favorite Broadway shows as well as one or two of the flops. TV audiences may know him as Mr. Hefty, the formidable butler to Lady Astor (Broadway Star Donna Murphy) on the HBO Series THE GILDED AGE. Theater and Cabaret critics have described him as “…tall as Tommy Tune, as lantern jawed, sinister and funny as Jack Palance, and as agile as Fred Astaire.” (Tampa Tribune) “…this is a man bursting with talent, who has burnished that talent till it fairly glows.” (TheaterMania.com) “…he fills a stage with as much talent and pizzazz as the place will hold.” (Cabaret Scenes) “…the proverbial bundle of talent…he’s dynamic about every aspect of his journey,” (Backstage) “William Ryall sings stirringly!” (Howard Kissel, NY Daily News)
With Musical Direction by Garrett Taylor, Ryall plans to have a surprise guest or two stop by to put in their two cents.
