About this Event
Join IslandWood naturalists and the W**d Warriors program of Sustainable Bainbridge for a festive afternoon that celebrates the season while caring for our forest!
We’ll begin with a guided walk through our trails to learn how to identify some of the Pacific Northwest’s most common invasive plants — like English holly and English ivy — and explore how these plants arrived here, why they spread so easily, and what we can do to restore balance in our ecosystems.
As we walk, we’ll gather select invasive cuttings and other abundant natural materials to use in crafting unique, eco-friendly wreaths. Then we’ll return to our beautiful Dining Hall, where rustic wooden tables and plenty of space await for spreading out and creating your one-of-a-kind seasonal décor.
Bring a friend, family member, or neighbor (ages 10+) and enjoy doing good for the woods while making something beautiful for your home. Together, we’ll turn restoration into celebration
This program is rain or shine!
We’ll enjoy a winter walk outdoors before heading inside to craft, so please dress for the weather.
Ages 10 and up.
The pace and materials of this program are designed for older children, teens, and adults who love to create.

We’ll walk on maintained forest trails that may be muddy or uneven — sturdy, waterproof shoes recommended.
What we’ll collect. We’ll gather specific invasive plants and other abundant natural materials with guidance from our naturalists. (Please leave other plants as you find them — we’ll show you what’s okay to harvest!)
Cozy crafting space. We’ll be inside our beautiful Dining Hall with winter warm-ups to sip and a few festive nibbles made in-house by our acclaimed kitchen team.
