About this Event
Seagrass planting at Spurn! ?
We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity to be part of a vital marine restoration effort!
Help us restore our precious underwater meadows by joining us for a hands-on seagrass planting event at Spurn Point.
About the project
Leading renewable energy company Ørsted is partnering with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust to deliver Wilder Humber - an ambitious five-year programme to restore marine habitats and species throughout the Humber estuary, one of the UK’s most important coastal ecosystems.
Why seagrass matters
Seagrass meadows are often called the “lungs of the sea.” They absorb carbon, improve water quality, stabilise sediments, and provide vital nursery grounds for fish, seahorses, and countless other marine species. Sadly, much of our native seagrass has been lost but together, we can help bring it back.
We need your help!
Join our volunteer team to plant seagrass seeds and restore vital underwater habitat at Spurn. Your efforts will directly support healthier, more resilient seas and a richer, more biodiverse Humber coastline.
