About this Event
Description
A jam-packed introduction to the practices of wildcrafting, including an overview of typical Central Vermont flora, online reference sources for plant/fungi identification, and recommendations for plant/fungi identification apps. We'll discuss which plants/fungi are suitable for consumption, medicine, or both. We'll also cover preservation methods like tincture making and dehydrating.
Future meet-ups in May and June, with plans to go into the field to identify and forage, will be scheduled, if there's interest.
Professor(s) or Facilitator(s): Desiree McCrorey
Desiree has spent the past 5-6 years devoted to wildcrafting and foraging in central Vermont. She has used many identification apps and botanical resources, performed extensive examinations of plants and fungi, and made products for her own use (food, medicine, health aids). Desiree is continually amazed by the truly valuable bounty available in Vermont's wildlands.
