FREE weekly nature and wellbeing sessions in Cumbernauld - This week we'll be learning about the flowers of the forest in Forestwood
About this Event

This week we're heading up to Forestwood Wildlife Reserve to have a look for the flowers of the forest. What flowers grow in these places, and why were they important to our ancestors?

Our wellbeing in nature walks will take place every week on a Thursday afternoon in Cumbernauld. The exact location, and the content of the walk, will change each week, but they are designed to be accessible to both beginners and seasoned nature walkers.

Every walk will take between 2 and 3 hours and will cover between 2 and 5000 steps. They will be taken at a gentle pace - it's not about covering distance, or marching from A to B, it's about slowing down, taking notice of the nature that is all around us, and connecting with it in a way that is proven to be beneficial for everyone.

Every session will include a nature walk, a tea break with time to chat to others, and a simple conservation activity that anyone can try. Whether it's by making wildlife records, learning about plants and animals, creating art, trying out simple conservation tasks, or simply adding your voice to those helping save our natural world, your actions can help make a real difference.

Engaging with nature like this helps people to live happier, healthier, lives - and as we are doing it as part of the Nurturing Natural Connections project, there is the added benefit that by taking part you are helping nature too.

Everything we do is free of charge and everything you need to take part (including a hot drink) will be provided. You will be accompanied by an experienced outdoor leader from TCV or the Scottish Wildlife Trust on each session who will help you enjoy the experience. All you need to do is dress for the weather.

Sessions are aimed at adults and unfortunately we cannot accommodate under 18s.

If you have any questions about the sessions, or how to get involved, then you can contact Paul at [email protected] for more details.
