Wild Walks
Explore Manchester’s hidden wild areas with these walks as part of the Manchester Museum Wild exhibition. Each walk will include a chance to get up close to nature, meet new people and explore themes of wildness in our city. Uncover the nature, wildlife and wild place on our doorstep.
Treescapes Sensory Walk with Trees is a family event that will take place in Whitworth Park.
Trees are important for human survival as they play a key role in combating the effects of climate change. Trees are a source of oxygen and clean the air we breathe in. Trees also provide us woods and paper. What else is special about trees?
“Trees are living beings like us (humans)” so, “how do trees and humans interact with one another?” Let’s explore this in our sensory walk with trees in the park.
Join the Voices of the Future research team from Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester Museum for a sensory walk with trees, involving:
- Walking with and around treses, being with trees and listening to trees
- Doing some art activities including bark and leaf rubbings
- Sharing stories related to trees and talking about and drawing a favourite tree
