We’re delighted to welcome writer-director Ric Rawlins to The Strand Centre for a special screening of his South West–shot supernatural thriller Wild Swimmers — featuring a live introduction and post-film Q&A.When wild swimmers begin vanishing without trace, journalism student Deji decides to investigate. But as she follows the river downstream, old stories resurface — and when the water turns red, it’s time to start swimming.
Filmed on location on the River Avon, Wild Swimmers sold out its premiere at Bath Film Festival and has drawn praise for its bold and original take on the vampire genre.
Blending the tension of crime thrillers like Seven, Zodiac and Silence of the Lambs with haunting folklore and creature-feature twists, the film captures both the poetry of the river and the thrill of the chase.
Ahead of its streaming release later this year, Ric Rawlins is touring the film with exclusive in-person screenings — and we’re excited to bring one to Dawlish.
