Wild Rivers Symphony is proud to present our Spring 2026 concert, centered around Illuminare by acclaimed contemporary composer, Elaine Hagenberg. This powerful work for choir and orchestra explores themes of light, hope, and resilience—guiding listeners from moments of darkness into radiance and renewal.Drawing on sacred and poetic texts, Illuminare weaves together lush harmonies, soaring vocal lines, and rich orchestral textures. Hagenberg’s music is both intimate and expansive, offering a deeply emotional journey that reflects the human search for light in uncertain times. With over 100 local musicians and singers performing together, this presentation highlights the strength and unity of our artistic community.

Trittico composed by James Curnow (Brass Ensemble)
Trittico for Brass Band is a three-movement work built on variations of the hymn “Consolation.” It contrasts energetic and lyrical sections while keeping the hymn recognizable throughout.
The Iliad composed by Soon Hee Newbold (String Orchestra)
The Iliad takes the audience through the battle scenes of the Trojan War and the story of the legendary Achilles.
Still Alive composed by Jonathan Coulton, and arranged by Sasha Ivanov for Vitamin String Quartet (String Orchestra)
The song Still Alive was written for the 2007 video game Portal and was used for the game’s ending credits.
Excursion composed by Patrick Glenn Harper (Woodwind Ensemble)
This contemporary piece for large woodwind ensemble employs the use of fast, energetic themes and slower, more lyrical sections to take the listener on a musical journey.
Molly on the Shore composed by Percy Aldridge Grainger, and adapted for Woodwind Band by R. Mark Rogers (Woodwind Ensemble)
A spirited arrangement of Percy Grainger’s beloved folk-inspired classic, full of dance-like energy and intricate interplay between instruments.
Bergamasque – Prelude composed by Claude Debussy, and transcribed by Bill Holcombe (Woodwind Ensemble)
A graceful and atmospheric work inspired by the style of French impressionism, offering flowing melodies and delicate tonal colors.
About This Performance:
This concert represents a collaboration of more than 100 local musicians and singers, bringing together orchestral and choral forces from across our remote region. Under the direction of Daniel Sedgwick, the ensemble continues its mission to provide quality live music while fostering community connection through the arts.
