Step outside with us for a unique collaboration with seasoned foragers, Cathryn & Sydney of Wild Wanders, and experienced hunter, Alex, leader of Venery women's hunting school. Together, we will help widen your lenses of perception while you wander in the woods, sharpening your observation skills and deepening your connection to the land. We will weave together patterns of plants and animals, the who, what, why and how of the woods - observations that are invisible to those that have never tuned in to these ways of noticing. Participants will practice widening their lenses: seeing not just the mushroom or the deer, but the whole web they belong to and how looking at the landscape with this expanded view can be beneficial to both hunting and foraging aspirations. We’ll discuss practical techniques for awareness, from reading landscapes and noticing habitat edges to tuning into the body’s own instinctive senses.
Whether you’re drawn to the gather or the hunt, this class offers tools to expand your perception, slow down, and discover the richness that reveals itself when we pay attention to the details. We hope you can join us for this rare opportunity to bring together these two wild food worlds that are so often kept separate.
We will be walking mainly on trails but be prepares to traverse uneven ground, climb over logs, walk through brush etc.
Tickets are by suggested donation and proceeds will be split equally between Venery and Wild Wanders. Please pay what you are able.
